The weather service says the warnings are a result of a steep upper air system situated over the East of South Africa.
“Impacts mostly arise from possible strong, damaging winds and heavy downpours, however, hail is also likely,” their post reads.
A Level 2 warning suggests a high likelihood with minor impact.
The SAWS says localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges might be possible as well as large amounts of small hail over an open area.
Their forecast suggests a 60% chance of scattered thundershowers today, while a 30% chance of isolated thundershowers is expected on Sunday.
“Partly cloudy and warm to cool, with isolated to scattered showers & thundershowers over the eastern parts of the country,” their forecast reads.
