Spectacular total lunar eclipse over Polokwane captured by residents

A spectacular total lunar eclipse was visible in Polokwane on Sunday. We showcase photos of the celestial event captured by our readers.

POLOKWANE – Polokwane residents had front-row seats to Sunday night’s total lunar eclipse, which lit up the sky in shades of crimson and orange.

From about 18:30, residents watched as Earth’s shadow slowly crept across the moon.

By 19:30, the eclipse reached its peak, leaving the moon glowing a dramatic red hue in some areas and a burnt orange in others.

The celestial show lasted five hours, 10 minutes and 38 seconds, giving stargazers ample time to admire the spectacle.
