Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says officers were called to a local hospital on Saturday morning (September 13) after the victim was admitted with a deep stab wound.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the security officer was on duty when he supposedly got into an argument with a male customer. The suspect reportedly pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the victim before fleeing the scene.”

The victim was initially treated at the local hospital but later transferred to the Provincial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at about that afternoon.

The attacker, who remains at large, was allegedly driving a white Toyota Avanza with no registration plates. The vehicle is said to have a distinctive, bold black sticker on the bonnet with the word “London” written on it.

Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has strongly condemned the incident and ordered that the perpetrator be tracked down and brought to justice.

Police have urged anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Thabo Oliphant, on 076 172 8719, call the Crime Stop number 08600 10111, or visit the nearest police station.
