Polokwane residents warned of temporary water shutdowns

Planned maintenance on the Olifantspoort and Ebenezer lines will cause temporary water outages in Polokwane, with upgrades aiming to enhance supply.

POLOKWANE – Polokwane Municipality has announced a series of planned water shutdowns as part of ongoing efforts to improve the city’s long-term water reliability and sustainability.

According to municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala, Lepelle Northern Water will conduct scheduled maintenance on the Olifantspoort and Ebenezer Water Supply Schemes to connect and commission new pump systems and electrical infrastructure.

The shutdowns are planned for the following dates:

  • October 15–16: Olifantspoort line

  • October 22–23: Ebenezer line

  • November 12–13: Olifantspoort line

  • November 19–20: Olifantspoort line

The Olifantspoort line affects areas from Ga-Chuene to the City and Seshego, while the Ebenezer line impacts Segwashi, Mankweng (including Mankweng Hospital and the University of Limpopo), and surrounding areas.

Polokwane Municipality said the upgrades are aimed at strengthening the city’s water infrastructure to ensure a more stable and sustainable supply in the future. Mitigation plans have been put in place to minimise disruptions during the shutdowns.
