WATCH: State’s closing argument against bail for Shebeshxt

State prosecutors argue musician Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke should be denied bail, citing risk to public safety and possible flight.

POLOKWANE – In the closing arguments of Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke’s bail hearing, state counsel Adv Kgaogelo Lekoloane emphasised his reasons for Chauke’s bail denial.

Lekoloane emphasised that although the musician is not out on parole, he has committed schedule one offences before while he was released on bail.

“We submit that there is a likelihood that the applicant will indeed commit a schedule one offence and endanger the public,” he said.

He also mentioned the likelihood of the accused evading trial, noting that the accused is arrested for serious violent crimes that attract minimum sentence legislation, attracting long terms of imprisonment.

Magistrate Godfrey Netshiozwi noted the judgment will be delivered at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, December 17, at 11:30.
