Man found dead between substations in Ladanna

An unidentified man's body was found trapped between two electrical substations in Polokwane, with cut cables and tools found at the scene.

POLOKWANE – Police in Westenburg have opened an inquest after the body of an unknown man was discovered trapped between two mini electrical substations in Ladanna on Saturday morning.

Officers responded to a complaint at approximately 07:05 at the corner of Staal and River Streets. They found the deceased, believed to be a middle-aged African male, with his upper body under one substation and his lower body under an adjacent one.

Preliminary observations at the scene indicated that three electrical cables had been cut under the substation where the lower part of the body was located. A bolt cutter and a pair of gloves were found nearby. The deceased had a visible injury to his back.

All relevant role-players were summoned to process the scene. The identity of the man remains unknown.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba confirmed an inquest docket has been opened and investigations are continuing.
