Polokwane charity restores dignity through faith-based care

Founded on Christian faith, the By Faith Foundation provides residential care, food parcels, and skills development to restore dignity in Polokwane.

POLOKWANE – By Faith Foundation is dedicated to being the hands and feet of Jesus in the community, restoring dignity and purpose to those in need.

The vision behind the By Faith Foundation

Founded by Wanda Farrel and Bianca Jones, the organisation began as a supervised residential home, Die Lighuis (The Lighthouse), for individuals facing social, emotional and mental challenges. It has over time grown into a wider mission to create a space where people can heal and contribute meaningfully to society.

“The foundation was born out of compassion that no person should feel forgotten or without purpose. Driven by faith in Jesus Christ, our passion comes from seeing lives restored and dignity renewed through discipleship and love in action,” said Farrel.

Jones added that the organisation is built on Jesus Christ as its cornerstone. “True transformation happens when lives are restored on a foundation of faith, love, and truth. Guided by Isaiah 6:8, we serve the vulnerable, restore hope and foster unity through holistic care, skills development and outreach programs,” she said.

Core programmes

By Faith’s initiatives include the SOS Food Parcels programme, distributing food monthly to underprivileged families, and street outreaches that serve the homeless with food, essentials, encouragement and prayer.

At Die Lighuis, residents voluntarily participate in skills development and community service to regain purpose and belonging.

The foundation also runs an active volunteer programme, partnering with NPOs, churches, businesses and the community to strengthen impact.

How you can get involved

Despite space limitations, Farrel says they overcome challenges through faith, stewardship and collaboration.

The organisation relies on donor partnerships, corporate support, and in-kind donations, offering Section 18A tax-deductible certificates to contributors. “Every contribution, big or small, helps to change lives. We invite supporters to walk this journey with us, grounded in Jesus Christ, knowing that together we can restore hope and transform our community for His glory,” said Jones.
