Polokwane Bowls Club raises money for interdistrict players

The Polokwane Bowls Club held a fun-filled fundraising event to grow the club and assist interdistrict competitors.

POLOKWANE – It was a hive of activity at the Polokwane Bowls Club on Saturday as they hosted a corporate money-raiser.

The event was a huge success, thanks to the participation and sponsorship of local businesses.

The event saw 18 teams of four players each participate in a fun-filled game, with the aim of growing the club and attracting new members.

Johan le Roux, president of the Polokwane Bowls Club, said the club hosted the day to support their Limpopo interdistrict players who will be competing around the country in March.

The proceeds will go towards covering the travel expenses. He thanked all the businesses that participated and sponsored the day.

Le Roux further extended an invitation to anyone interested in learning more about the sport, to visit the club on Wednesday evenings for a social event or on Saturday afternoons at 14:00.

“We currently have 83 members and events like these introduce new people to the sport. Our goal is to make Polokwane Bowls Club a big and successful club, and we need more people to play and become members. They can come and get an introduction to the game, see what it’s like and very likely, they’ll be interested in playing too,” he said.
