Seshego DJ murder accused abandons bail

The man accused of murdering DJ Khutjo Thabethe in Seshego remains in custody after abandoning bail, with his next court appearance set for April 30.

POLOKWANE – The murder case of the 27-year-old DJ Khutjo Thabethe has been postponed to April 30, as the accused remains in custody after abandoning bail.

Thabethe was fatally stabbed on March 1, following a performance at a local tavern.

Lesetja Rameetse, who appeared in court on March 19, faces a murder charge, and the case has sparked outrage in Seshego.

Residents have called for swift justice, with many attending court proceedings and urging the authorities to ensure the accused is not granted bail.

Slight Mabotja, the CEO of Seshego Community Against Crime and Gangsterism (Scacag), spoke of the importance of community involvement: “My plea is, people must come in numbers so that the killer does not get bail.”

The investigation is ongoing and the next court date is set for April 30.
