Shebeshxt’s court case postponed
Shebeshxt appeared in court again this week as his case was postponed to July, while his appeal continues next month.
POLOKWANE – Lekompo musician Lehlogonolo ‘Shebeshxt’ Chauke made his second appearance at the Polokwane Regional Court on Thursday, May 28.
His legal representative, Michael Khumalo, and the state reached an agreement to postpone the case to July 10 for pre-trial proceedings and the briefing of an advocate.

Khumalo noted this was because of his hectic diary.
“The case was postponed for pre-trial proceedings to proceed. We have reflected and consulted with our client. My diary is quite hectic; I do not want to delay the matter. We are going to identify an advocate who will dedicate his time to this matter,” he said, emphasising that he is not leaving the case.
Following yesterday’s appeal (May 27) at the Polokwane High Court, media reports circulated suggesting that Khumalo is using AI.
This comes after the judge agreed to give both the state and the defence time to submit supplementary documents and cautioned them against using AI.

Khumalo said the misinterpretation worried him.
“People consume things that are not true, and they do not know it is not true, and it is unfortunate. I want to say to the media out there that before reporting on anything, please verify it,” he said.
The matter was postponed to July 10, while his appeal was postponed to June 12 at the Polokwane High Court for the state to submit supplementary heads of argument to the defence.
