POLOKWANE – Yesterday, the Limpopo e-Chaile Movement handed over a memorandum to the Office of the Premier, calling for urgent intervention to address illegal immigration and its impact on local economic opportunities.
Addressing supporters outside the Premier’s Office, e-Chaile Movement leader Mokgao Wamodimo said the organisation wants government to take its concerns seriously, arguing that illegal immigration had become a growing challenge in Limpopo.

Wamodimo further claimed that foreign nationals had gained significant control of the micro-scale economy in the Polokwane CBD, affecting opportunities for local entrepreneurs and informal traders.
The memorandum was received by Rudzani Murovhi, Chief Director in the Office of the Premier, who apologised on behalf of Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba for her absence.
Murovhi assured members of the movement that the memorandum would be reviewed and that the Premier’s Office would provide feedback once all the issues raised had been considered.
Monday’s handover followed the movement’s march through Polokwane, where members called for stronger action against illegal immigration and raised concerns about its perceived impact on employment, business opportunities and service delivery in the province.
