Sadness after ‘longest serving’ Makhado taxi marshal’s sudden passing

Hailed by those who knew him as the ‘clean man’, the death of a beloved taxi marshal for the Dzanani II Taxi Association has left a huge gap among his colleagues and loved ones.

LIMPOPO – A well-known taxi marshal of Dzanani II Taxi Association, Rangani ‘Chilies Mkharasi’ Maluleke (78), who died at home on June 27 after a short illness, was laid to rest at the Madombidzha Cemetery on Saturday.

Four decades of dedication

Maluleke served as a taxi marshal for more than 40 years and was widely respected for his dedication, discipline and commitment to cleanliness at the taxi rank. Fondly known as the “clean man”, he encouraged taxi drivers and operators to maintain a clean and orderly environment. His passing has left taxi drivers, owners and community members deeply saddened.

Family remembers a unifying presence

Family spokesperson Isaack Maluleke described his death as a great loss to the family.

“He was one of a kind, a unique person who was always willing to help every member of the family and anyone who came to him in need. We have lost a great man,” he said.

He added that Maluleke played a unifying role within the family and served as a role model whose guidance and wisdom would be greatly missed.

Taxi association pays tribute

The public relations officer of the Dzanani II Taxi Association, Freddy Matshavha, said the association was deeply saddened by the loss of one of its longest-serving members.

“Maluleke was a pillar of our association, and nobody will ever replace him.

“His dedication and commitment to serving the taxi industry earned him the respect of everyone who knew him,” he said.

“We have lost a giant”

Taxi owner Ntshenge Mamburu said members of the association were struggling to come to terms with the loss of a hardworking and dedicated marshal.

“He worked tirelessly for the development of this taxi association, and his contributions will remain for all to see.

“We have lost a giant who was always at the forefront of our efforts to provide better service to our clients. We will miss him dearly,” said Mamburu.
