Missing Vhembe fisherman found dead at Nwamanungu Dam
SAPS Water Wing divers recovered the man's body from Nwamanungu Dam in Hlanganani, found trapped underwater in a fishing net.
LIMPOPO – Police recovered the body of 48-year-old John Vukeya at Nwamanungu Dam in the Hlanganani policing area, Vhembe District, on August 5.
The deceased had been reported missing since August 1 after disappearing while fishing with a friend at the dam using a small boat.
According to reports, his friend noticed he had vanished and subsequently discovered the boat floating upside down on the water.
Search operation activated
Police were immediately notified, and a search operation was activated.
On the afternoon of August 5, members of the SAPS Water Wing in Limpopo recovered the body, which was found trapped underwater in a fishing net. Emergency Medical Services personnel certified the man dead at the scene.
Police have opened an inquest docket and are investigating further.
