Ace effort as Wendy bags another trophy

Gr 3 Mitchell House learner Wendy Modiba recently won the ProKennex Mini Tournament in the girls u/12 division.

POLOKWANE – “I feel so happy to have accomplished yet another trophy for a tennis tournament, but mostly I’m grateful for the coaches who have been with me throughout.”

Wendy Modiba, a Gr 3 learner from Mitchell House, recently won the ProKennex Mini Tournament in the girls u/12 division.

The tournament, which is one of four official Tennis South Africa tournaments to be hosted locally this year, was played at the Polokwane Tennis Club.

“This was actually the fifth u/12 tournament that I have competed in and with the tennis skills that I have acquired in the past year and the competitions in which I participated, I felt confident that I would excel.”

Wendy says she loves the game.

“Hitting a tennis ball into the opposite court for me is simply fun, whether it is singles, doubles or just hitting a bucket’s worth of tennis balls by myself,” she said.

She also won the u/10 Gauteng central leg of the Growthpoint Super 8 Tennis South African Tournament which took place in December at Ellis Park Tennis Stadium in Johannesburg.
