Podium success for gymnast Iminathi

Iminathi Mokitimi (10) is a gymnast and recently participated in the Limpopo Gymnastics SA Zone Festival 2022 competition and came first in her age category.

POLOKWANE – “I believe that gymnastics develop strength, flexibility, balance, agility and co-ordination for the mind and body to be able to work together, this is why I love the sport,” said Bet-Shalom Christian School Gr 4 learner Iminathi Mokitimi.

The 10-year-old learner who’s a gymnast at Zanis Gymnastics Academy took part in the Limpopo Gymnastics SA Zone Festival 2022 competition last month and came first in her age category.

“The win feels amazing, I’m proud of myself for the achievement because it does get challenging to multitask between school and sports, but I always try my best,” she said.

She started gymnastics in 2020 and she specialises in artistic gymnastics. Iminathi who also enjoys other sport added that the flexibility used to do a leg split in gymnastics is the same flexibility a hockey or soccer player uses to save a goal.

Teacher Angelique Kennedy told Review that Iminathi is an excellent learner. “She has a lot of potential and leadership qualities. I’m extremely proud of her,” she said.
