PEPPS’ Catherine wears many hats

PEPPS' office assistant Catherine Morifi is always in pursuit of being better, doing better and working more diligently.

POLOKWANE – You can almost hear the smile in Catherine Morifi’s voice over the phone.

This is because of the love and passion that she puts into her job at PEPPS where she is an office assistant. She has been at PEPPS since 2012 and she started her career at the school as a cleaner at a company that was contracted to PEPPS.

“It so happened that a vacancy opened for an office assistant and I applied. I went through the interview process and got the job. I haven’t looked back since,” she explained.

Morifi expressed that she not only loves her job but she loves the school. She enjoys working in an environment with children and also enjoys working with the different people she crosses paths with.

“My duties include maintaining communication with the different departments, coordinating meetings and record keeping. I take my job seriously because I contribute towards the smooth running of the school through my interaction with all these people I liaise with,” she said.

Despite the many years of experience she has on the job, she continues to work on bettering herself so that she can best perform her duties.

She is always in pursuit of being better, doing better and working more diligently and efficiently.

“I am always willing to learn. I ask questions and try to go beyond the call of duty because it doesn’t only help me do better, it helps me be better,” she said.

In her free time, she enjoys travelling, that is when she is not busy with course work from the business administrative course that she has signed up for to improve her skills.

“I want to gain as much experience as possible to perform more work efficiently. I like to do something that will help me grow,” she said.

Another side of Catherine that is rarely seen is her love for volunteering at various organisations.

“When I am able to, I spend time at a daycare and aftercare centre in my community. I also use my experience in admin to get their papers in orders whenever the need arises,” she said.

She one day sees herself occupying a managerial position, doing what she love and imparting knowledge and skills on those starting out.
