Gr 8s excited to be part of MECS team

Bosveld spoke to a group of Gr. 8 learners from Mokopane English Combined School to find out what they most excited for this year.

Cyle Terblanche: My goal this year is to get fit because I also want to play soccer and want to be part of the chess team. I enjoyed the first day of school, the teachers are nice. My favourite subject is English.

MOKOPANE – Mokopane English Combined School (MECS) boasts 53 Gr 8 learners this year.

Bosveld visited the school to hear how they experienced their first day of school.

Thabang Papo: I wasn’t that nervous on the first day of school as I have already made some friends and know some of the teachers. I got to know new people and that was good. This year, I want to try out for the soccer and chest teams. My goal this year is just to get great marks and to achieve some of my personal goals. My favourite subjects are definitely physical science and natural science.

Cyle Terblanche: My goal this year is to get fit because I also want to play soccer and want to be part of the chess team. I enjoyed the first day of school, the teachers are nice. My favourite subject is English.

Lethabo Mokhonoana: I had a very normal first day, although I am not quite ready for Gr 8. I don’t have a favourite subject yet, but I think it is going to be arts and culture, and life orientation. My goal this year is achieving good marks in mathematics and I am going to play netball.

Kutloana Nkoana: The goal this year is to achieve good marks. I enjoyed my first day meeting new teachers and I made some new friends. My favourite subjects are life orientation, and arts and culture. I am planning to join the netball team this year.

Saira Bhyat: I thoroughly enjoyed my primary school years at Thorntree Preparatory School and I am excited to start at a new school. I enjoyed my first day, it was really fun exploring the new school premises and meeting new people and making new friends. My favourite subjects are English and physical science and I definitely want to see if I can make the netball team and perhaps participate in archery as well. My goal this year is to do well.

Lefo Langa: My goal this year is to improve my marks and my academic goals. My first day was amazing, the teachers are very kind, and my favourite subject is mathematics. I am going to play soccer and chess this year.”
