Noorderland learner crowned Limpopo dance champ in 2 categories

Noorderland High learner Ntando Radzilani has been crowned Limpopo champion in afro and hip hop at the TADA Limpopo championships.

POLOKWANE – Noorderland High School learner Ntando Lufuno Radzilani (18) has seen her passion and dedication pay off after she was crowned Limpopo champion in two categories at The All-Style Dance Association (TADA) Limpopo championships.

The Gr 11 learner, who represents Vida Dance Studio, competed in 10 categories:

  • Contemporary
  • Jazz
  • Cha-cha
  • Samba
  • Paso doble
  • Rumba
  • Jive
  • Afro
  • Hip hop
  • Mega dance

She walked away with seven medals in total – two gold, three silver and two bronze.

Radzilani won gold and now holds the title in afro and hip hop.

Hard work pays off

“I felt extremely happy, proud and grateful. Hearing my name called was a very special moment because all the hard work, practice, and dedication had paid off. I always pray and put God in the centre of everything,” she said.

Dancing since age five

Radzilani, who has been dancing since the age of five, said she instantly fell in love with dancing and music.

To prepare for the championships, she attended regular training sessions, practised her routines consistently and worked on improving her technique, strength and flexibility, while also staying mentally prepared.

“The most challenging part was staying consistent, especially when I was tired or had other responsibilities. But I reminded myself of my goals and kept pushing through,” she said.

Despite her busy dance schedule, Radzilani balances school and dancing by staying organised and ensuring that she completes her schoolwork and assignments.

Bigger stages ahead

Looking ahead, she has her sights set on even bigger stages. Her goal is to continue improving her dancing and compete at a higher level. She hopes to participate in nationals and achieve even greater results.

Her advice to other young learners who want to start dancing is to believe in themselves.

“Don’t be afraid to start. Everyone begins somewhere and you don’t have to be perfect immediately. Keep practising, stay dedicated and most importantly, enjoy what you do. Don’t let fear stop you from pursuing your dreams,” she said.

Seeking sponsors for nationals

Radzilani is now seeking sponsors to help her travel to Durban for the Dance X South African Nationals from September 25 to 26.

Potential sponsors can contact her on 081 726 5012.
