I am very disappointed about an article I read in last week’s Polokwane Express about a group of high school learners who gang raped a fellow learner and video taped the incident. The video was then uploaded on Facebook.

One of the boys claimed to have raped the girl to impress his friends, but I feel this is not an excuse.

Peer pressure is not an excuse to hurt somebody else. We all have the choice to say no.

Life judges us as individuals and not as a group of friends. I am really disturbed by today’s generation and how their behaviour and actions will impact the next generation. If young individuals do not learn to differentiate between right and wrong, our country will never be rid of being labelled as a corrupt.

Young people should take responsibility for their actions and not hide behind peer pressure.
