The South African Council of Churches in Limpopo is saddened by the passing of Tata Nelson Mandela who was a symbol of peace, love, respect, tolerance, truthfulness, honesty and, most importantly, a father figure and ambassador of ubuntu.

We would like to encourage the whole Christian community and people of other faiths to:

• Observe a moment of silence in every gathering to pray for Tata Mandela’s soul to rest in peace.

• Pray for his family, citizens of our country and the whole world who were in one way or the other touched by his humility and leadership.

We pray that everybody gather around his vision of creating a value-based society which will embrace ubuntu principles.
