The year 2013 is coming to an end.
There were plenty of things that happened in the world, on our continent, in our country and in our province.
The events in our province were widely reported in print, electronic and social media. The reports reflected the province in a bad light in most cases, particularly with regard to financial governance in the province.
The year 2013 ends in a sombre moment, the passing away of our first democratically elected president, Ntate Nelson Mandela.
A lot has been said and will continue to be said about him by people the world over. We were blessed to have him in our country and we must all strive to live his values of putting the interests of others above our own.
As we bid farewell to 2013, on behalf of the Limpopo provincial treasury, I promise that we are putting systems in place to address the challenges that were widely reported. The results will be forthcoming from 2014. I wish everyone in the province a peaceful, joyful festive season and a happy New Year.
