I would like to advise those matriculants who did not make it this time, to learn that success is not measured by how many times one fails but by how many times one keeps on trying.
It is worth noting and mentioning that there are many learners who believe and think that failure to make it through matric is the end of life and this should be condemned with all the contempt it deserves.
My fellow learners need to learn that there are so many opportunities that are waiting to be explored by those who did not make it to university.
Some of those opportunities are based in the Further Education Training (FET) institutions where you can learn technical subjects and still make a living. South Africa is in dire need of technical personnel and this is the field where those who did not pass matric can capitalise on.
I would like to advise you that it is not worth it to take your life because you did not make it.
I would also like to encourage parents to be pillars of strength for their children, instead of condemning them for their failures. It does not help to compare your child with your neighbour’s.
To those who did make it: Go on and make it worthwhile to have a matric certificate by enrolling to institutions of higher learning and create better future for yourself.
Hopeful reader.
