POLOKWANE – It is that time of the year again, where couples express their affections for each other in celebration of Valentine’s Day. For some, the day is special, while for others it is a normal working day.

Review asks residents if they believe in celebrating Valentine’s Day.

Ivy Moshima says she believes in celebrating Valentine’s Day, but will not celebrate it this year. “I will unfortunately be at work for most of Valentine’s Day, but I will cook a lovely dinner for my family later to celebrate the rest of the day.”

Gershwin Mdlalose says: “I believe in celebrating Valentine’s Day and I will treat every woman I meet on the day in a special way. I am single, but I hope to find someone special on Valentine’s Day. I am going to buy a box of chocolates and give it to the first woman I meet”.

Mohammed Saloojee says he does not believe in celebrating Valentine’s Day. “It is a money making scheme. I show my wife love and care and buy her gifts 365 days a year. I do not need one day in the year to honour her.”

“I believe in celebrating Valentine’s Day. It is also the day before my birthday, so I celebrate them together. February is a month of love, and people should show love and all the women should get flowers. I am going to celebrate by having a big braai with my family and friends,” says Diana Dickson.

Phina Mololo says: “I believe in celebrating Valentine’s Day. It is a day to show love and appreciate your partner. I will be at work during the day, but I will celebrate it in the evening with my better half by going out for dinner”.

Sylvia Kgowana says she does not believe in celebrating Valentine’s Day as it is a day like any other.

“Valentine’s Day was not around when I was growing up. It is today’s young people who celebrate it. It is mostly a money making scheme for businesses and restaurants.”
