Annecia le Roux says accidents are caused by drivers who do not think about others. “Drivers should keep at least three seconds ‘distance from the car in front of them and that way they would be safe. Drunk driving should not happen at all as alcohol decreases driving ability.” She advised motorists to check their cars more often to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Elizabeth Kotane says accidents are caused by impatient motorists. “I usually leave space that will allow three cars to fit in front of me. I hate drunk driving and I think it should be avoided at all times,” she said.

Joyce Botha thinks motorists who do not allow others a chance to overtake are bad drivers. According to Botha, drivers should observe and obey the rules of the road to avoid accidents.

Anne-Marie Klog says: “People who do not pay attention to the road are bad drivers and cell phones should not be used when one is driving as they are a distraction. Cars should also be taken for service once a month to avoid mechanic failures”.

Alicia Pienacu says younger motorists are negligent. “Young people tend to drive faster whereas they do not have much experience. They should slow down to avoid accidents.”
