POLOKWANE – The department of health celebrates National Health Month during the month of March.
In commemoration of National Health Month, Review asked gr. 1 learners if they were eating healthily and whether exercise was important.
Nkateko Nhuvunga said she eats Coco Pops and that Coco Pops is healthy because she eats them with milk.”It is important to exercise and I exercise with my mom. We do push-ups and stretch outside in the mornings. I am healthy because I play with other children and I do not get sick.”
Ngwato Nchabeleng said: “carrots and apples are healthy because they help your body grow. It is important to exercise because you get stronger when you exercise”.
Anwer Anwar said eggs, brown bread and rice were healthy foods. “We must all exercise so we can be fit and strong.”
Fatima Cassim said bananas and apples were healthy to eat and that it was important to exercise as it gave energy and made you stronger.
“I do back flips and I jog,” she said.
Pontsho Mathabatha said: “rice, muffins, cupcakes and cakes are the healthy foods that I eat. Exercise is important. I carry gym bags and stretch”.
Charne Voster said oranges, apples and bananas were healthy foods as they made you strong and active. She said exercise was important and that she did kickboxing at home. “Healthy food is those small green things that my mom puts in my plate and vegetables are also healthy. I do a lot of exercise, I run and I do push ups,” said Jaydin Nel.
