Lights, camera and action: favourites
Whether you watch it on the big screen or from under the covers at home, we all have a favourite movie.
POLOKWANE – Whether you watch it on the big screen or from under the covers at home, we all have a favourite movie.
With so many movies newly released, it is always hard to choose which one to watch.
Review asked residents what their favourite movies were and why.
Achsah Phoshoko said she liked all The Avenger movies.
“I like the action and love the graphics. It is about five superheroes who save the world. I’m also a fan of the Twilight saga.”
Dirty Dancing is a golden oldie and favourite of many, including Amanda Goeminne.
“I think I watched it the first time at an age where I could appreciate romance, but I was not old enough yet to understand the whole movie. Oh, and of course there’s Patrick Swayze as the lead,” she explained.
Most movie lovers know the phrase “run Forrest, run”, a line that comes from Kathy Proctor’s favourite movie, Forrest Gump.
According to Kathy, the movie tells the story of a mother’s ultimate love and faith in her son, “and the acting is very good”.
Juanita van den Heever recently watched Blended, a movie about two single parents who fall in love.
“I think it is a very good movie and the fact that it was shot in South Africa makes it so much better,” she said.
Nine Months is a comedy about a woman’s pregnancy and the difficulties she and her partner go through. Divya George feels this is a very good movie as it makes a usually stressful time a bit easier.
Hennie Prinsloo loves two movies, Midnight Express and Shawshank Redemption. “These are brilliant stories about human beings,” he told Review.
