I have not met a single person who does not have a dream within them, a dream that most let lie and go to waste.
There are those who have a great dream, and those who have many dreams, but do not try to pursue them or just try to see if they can obtain it. I always wonder why.
Why would someone just give up on his or her dream? What is a dream other than your heart making a wish? A dream can only remain a dream if one does not pursue it.
I once read this heart-rending story of a little girl, who, with all her might, wanted to be a singer. She did everything in her power to pursue her singing career. She would sing in karaoke bars, she sang in her church choir, she even entered competitions.
She never made it anywhere, and people made fun of her.
She looked like someone with a mental disability. She was told when she was young her mother had a difficult time giving birth to her and that she may have lacked oxygen during birth, resulting in her “disability”. None of that mattered to her, she wanted to sing. She even took singing lessons. The years moved on and she got older, yet she still clung to her dream.
When she turned 48 years old, she entered a national competition, but when she stepped on stage to sing, you could hear and see people snickering and laughing, and then she started to sing! The person I am talking about is Susan Boyle.
Susan Boyle is a Scottish singer who came to international attention when she appeared as a contestant on the TV show, Britain’s Got Talent on April 11, 2009, singing I Dreamed a Dream from Les Misérables. Her first album was released in November 2009 and debuted as the number one best-selling album on charts around the globe.
The crux of this story was that she never gave up. What dreams are there inside you today that you are just pushing to the side? What dream is there that just will not die? You are never too old to dream and never too old to start doing something about it. Take a page out of Susan Boyle’s book and pursue it.
