POLOKWANE – The JKA Pietersburg Karate Club, led by sensei Piet van Rensburg, held their annual awards ce-remony on Monday, during which the club’s top karate students of the year received acknowledgment for their dedication.
Costley Maoto was named the senior black belt karate student of the year while William Malebana took the trophy for senior karate student of the year.
The title of senior wo-men’s karate student of the year went to Yolandi Vorster with Anton Dreyer named senior men’s karate student of the year.
The girls’ karate student of the year emerged as Anika Myburgh while Ludwick Kganyago received the award for best spirit of the year.
The award for the female karate student who showed the most potential during the year went to Chantelle Vorster and the award for the male karate student who showed the most potential was handed to Jaco Conradie.
Manie Greyling took the award for being the karate student who made the most effort during the year.
The award for the karate student who made the best progress went to Roelof Myburgh.
Ruan Crause and Chantelle Vorster, who both gra-ded to junior black belts this year, and Anika and Roelof, who received their senior black belt grading this year, were acknowledged for these achievements.
Yolandi and Anton were also lauded for their performances at championship level.
