Cage Rage: Titans fight

Eksteen Mixed Martial Arts and the Wild West Warriors, in conjunction with Meropa Casino and Entertainment World, staged the popular Cage Rage 5 Armageddon War of the Worlds

POLOKWANE – Eksteen Mixed Martial Arts and the Wild West Warriors, in conjunction with Meropa Casino and Entertainment World, staged the popular Cage Rage 5 Armageddon War of the Worlds, which saw fighters from Polokwane, Mokopane and Gauteng challenge each other in an event that kept the crowd of close to 300 on the edge of their seats in the city recently.

Henri Eksteen, organiser of the event, said the Polokwane fighters proved in a very short time that they were able to compete with the best, thanks to the training received from Mike West senior and junior.

Eksteen was also the chief referee for this event and had his hands full as hardly any of the fights went further than the first round. Fights had to be stopped for either a knockout, technical knockout (TKO), submission or tapping out.

“This proves the huge impact the intense training of the West coaching team had on our local fighters,” Ek-steen said.

The main fight was the Last Man Standing bout with seven fighters in the cage in action.

Tyrone Rodrigues from Gauteng retained his South African Championship belt and bagged a very nice cash prize of R10 000, courtesy of the event sponsor, Meropa Casino and Entertainment World.

Eksteen said the next event, Cage Rage 6 – The Revenge, will be held again at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World in March next year.
