POLOKWANE – Fun was the name of the game at the new year opening of the Pietersburg Bowling Club on Saturday, January 11, when members gathered for some team building and bowling practise.

Club president, Lynne Lambert said they kicked the year off with the 13th Litchi Tournament, which took place in Tzaneen on Saturday.

Teams from across Limpopo took part in the tournament, where prizes worth R12 000 were up for grabs, said Lambert.

The Polokwane Bowling Club boasts some of the youngest and oldest players in the country. One of the youngest players, Sampie van Eden is only 12 years old and has been bowling for two years.

Sampie said bowling was a sport he loved and he was ready for the year ahead.

“I will play bowling for many years to come,” he said.

“We encourage everyone, no matter their age to come and enjoy bowling with us. This is not just a sport for older people, it can be enjoyed by the whole family,” Lambert said.

The club is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 14:00 for anyone who would like to practise. For further information on the club and how to join, contact Lambert at 079 500 6882.
