Limpopo women’s cricket team, the Impala Lilies ended the first half of the season on a winning note.
Having played six games and losing all of them the ladies went in this past weekend’s game with a lot of determination and came very close to a win against KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Inland at the Capricorn High School cricket oval.
Inland won the toss and decided to bat not knowing the Lilies’ bowlers were not planning to spend the whole day on the field. Inland were bowled out for 35 runs in 10,1 overs. Thembi Mokgohloa took four wickets for 14 runs in four overs.
In reply the Lilies scored the required runs with five wickets down winning the game by five wickets.
“The one thing I’m happy about is that the women now know what they are capable off and have tasted victory.
“They deserve every good thing that happened on the day. It is a step in the right direction of our three year plan to develop a competitive team. It can only get better from here,” head coach Sedibu Mohlaba said.
