Following their 0-1 loss against Golden Arrows last year, Polokwane City Football Club is aiming for maximum points against Mpumalanga Black Aces whom they will face at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
City are currently in 11th position of the Premier Soccer League with 12 points after 12 matches, while Aces are lying third on the log with 24 points after 12 matches.
Club Spokesperson Tumelo Makgoara is confident that they will do well against Aces who are known to be difficult customers on their home ground. “We have been working hard at training, trying to fix our defence which has been shaky and we saw changes at practice sessions. We are very much aware of their form and their track record at home and it is not going to be an easy match but we believe we can win the match,” Makgoara said.
He further informed that their coach Julio Leal was still awaiting his work permit following his appointment in November last year. Since his appointment, Leal has been coaching the team from the grand stands.
“The coach is not allowed to sit on the bench because he hasn’t received his work permit yet. We are busy with the applications which take four to five months but once everything is finalised we will inform you.”
Former player and now assistant coach, Makweni Mayala will take charge of the game on Saturday,” Makgoara said.
