Baroka Football Club, having beaten Mthatha Bucks 1-0 at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, remains on top of the National First Division (NFD) with 35 points after 16 matches.
Nkosinathi Ndlovhu, one of the division’s top goal scorers with six goals, was a hero after he scored the winning goal in the in second half of the match.
The Ga-Mphahlele outfit lost only one match, against Witbanks Spurs in October, last year and will be hoping for other maximum points when they play Moroka Swallows at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
Swallows were relegated from the Premier Soccer League last season and are currently languishing in the 16th position of the division with 11 points after 16 matches.
Reflecting on their prospects Baroka’s Technical Manager, Oupa Kgoadi said: “It is going to be a tough game considering their position in the league.
It is always difficult and dangerous to play such teams especially during this time of the season they are fighting for survival and we are fighting for promotion. We struggled against Mthatha Bucks on Saturday, they were all over us but we managed to get away with the victory. However, we are ready for Swallows and we will do anything to win the match.”
