Banyana Banyana includes local stars

Local soccer stars, Nkoikoi Mabina, Molatelo Kobo, Noko Matlou and Lebogang Ramalepe have been included in the 34-member squad for the South African Senior Women’s Soccer team, Banyana Banyana currently camping at Ennerdale Stadium, south of Johannesburg.
The camp, intended to prepare the team for the 2017 Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) Women’s Championship which takes place in Zimbabwe in September, started on Sunday and is set to conclude tomorrow (Friday).
Mabina plies her trade at Kanatla Ladies Football Club in Polokwane, Kobo at the University of Limpopo Female Soccer Team while Matlou and Ramalepe play for Ma Indies Football Club in Polokwane.
Ramalepe was a member of the 2014 African Women’s Championship in Namibia and also competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Matlou has 123 appearances for the national team and will be hoping to make an impact at the camp. Both Kobo and Mabina will be hoping to impress Banyana Banyana Head Coach, Desiree Ellis.
Provincial President of the South African Football Association Abel Rakoma said they were happy about the province being well represented in the team and wished the selected players good luck at the camp.
“We are proud of the selected players. This is a step in the right direction and motivation to other female soccer players in the province. We once again call on all regional women soccer leagues coordinators and coaches in the province to work harder and keep on delivering talented players,” Rakoma said.
