Bloemfontein Celtic signs local players

Former Polokwane City Football Club and Baroka Football Club strikers, Sipho Jembula and Victor Letsoalo have signed contracts to play for Manguaung based Premier Soccer League (PSL) Club Bloemfontein Celtic last week. Letsoalo spent three seasons with Baroka and was one of the team’s top goal scorers with 15 goals all in all league competitions last season. Jembula who also played for PSL outfit, Platinum Stars joined Polokwane City in 2014 and played a pivotal role in the team top 8 finish last season.
Paen Nkhwashu, Owner of Peace United Football United who discovered Letsoalo during a social soccer tournament at Ga-Thaba village, Maja expressed his happiness at seeing him moving up in the elite league.
“I discovered him in one of the social soccer tournaments at Ga-Thaba five years ago and I could see the potential in him. He scored a brace in the first five minutes of the match which is rare in football. I was blown away by his talent and his scoring ability,” Nkhwashu said.
He also mentioned that Letsoalo’s move to Celtic shows that the province has talented soccer players who can make it in any team.
“He comes from a village that doesn’t have proper facilities and he made it. I hope his progression will inspire other aspiring soccer players from remote areas. I wish him all the best at Celtic. He proved his worth at Baroka and I wish to see him in national colours soon,” Nkhwashu said.
Baroka Football Club Spokesperson Jimmy Ngobeni described Letsoalo as one of the best strikers to have played for Baroka and a good servant of the team. “He requested to be released after the playoffs and we could not stand in his way because he is such a talented player. He was our target man in the frontline. He did well for us, especially during the playoffs and we wish him all the best at Celtic,” Ngobeni said.
