Local soccer coaches complete top training

Polokwane City Football Club yesterday (Wednesday) announced the appointment of its interim coach of last season, Bernard Molekwa as full-time coach for the club.
Molekwa, a former player and manager at the club took over following the sudden resignation of Luc Eymael last season.
He led the team to their maiden top 8 finish in the Premier Soccer League last season, which is the club’s highest-ever finish and achievement in the league since their promotion from National First Division in 2012. He won five out of ten league games in charge last season, drew two and lost three.
Chief Operations Officer at the club, Tincy Tema expressed confidence in Molekwa’s ability to succeed as Head Coach. “He is a local coach, he is knowledgeable and he has been with us for years. He understands the culture of the team and our vision.”
Molekwa, who reportedly said he was pleased with the opportunity and ready for the challenge after recently successfully completing the South African Football Association (Safa) Confederation of African Football (Caf) Level D coaching licence programme.
The programme seeks to set and promote benchmarks regarding coaching on the continent and helps to recognise African coaches for their knowledge and expertise. It also serves as a platform to ensure professionalism and homogeneity in terms of coaching standards.
Kgoloko Thobejane, Head Coach of Baroka also completed the programme and said it had been informative and worthwhile.
“The knowledge I got from the course will augment my natural coaching skills,” he reportedly said.
