Warm racing action in spite of cold weather

The Polokwane Oval Track once again delivered high octane racing during the club’s points racing day as Johnny du Randt could not be scared off and walked away as king of the 2.1 litre class and Jean-Mari Swarts dominated the Ninja Midgets on Saturday.
In the 2.1 litres, Roelf du Randt, had to follow Du Randt’s taillights to achieve a second place with Nic de Witt in third place. Johan Fourie was the only driver with a Hot Rod and took part in the 2.1litre class.
The Rebels category saw Andries Marx as the winner with Neil de Witt second and Hentie van der Merwe third.
Tanika Bent, in second place, was too slow for Jean-Mari in the Ninja Midgets with Jayden Bent acquiring the bronze trophy.
In the Rookies category, the Citi Golf of Andri Cronje outraced the pack as she achieved first place with Dawie van der Merwe second and Cherise Swarts in third place.
Hennie de Koker reigned supreme in the Stock Rods division with Shawn Keating breathing down his neck in second place and Johann Bezuidenhout managing third in his Ford Bantam. Heath Bent outran the rest of the 1660cc racers to be announced the winner with Dylan Bosch in second place and Schalk Smith managing a third place.
According to Polokwane Oval Commentator Jaco Els, the cars were in pristine condition and the drivers worked hard on and off the track to make sure the crowds get a spectacular show and to ensure they are prepared for the upcoming national racing event that takes place on 9 September when cars from the Cape, Richards bay, Vereeniging and Klerksdorp will descent on Polokwane.
