The first running event for the year, the Seeff 3-in-1 Road Race hosted on Saturday lured 1 028 athletes who are eager to get back into shape after the holidays.
The race offered athletes a 5 km fun run and a 10 km and 21,1 km for the more serious runners. Emanuel Romohlale from Pietersburg Road Runners was the first man to complete the 21,1 km in a time of 1:08.04 while Gift Ramobela claimed victory in the women’s category in a time of 1:40.27.
The 10 km men’s category was won by Tlou Peu in a time of 31:14 while Thabiso Masasa (45:17) gave her fellow athletes a run for their money in the 10 km.
This year the race welcomed Jaguar Polokwane as new sponsor contributing to the success of the event. Polokwane Athletic Club Chairperson Corrie Calitz said the race was a huge success and the lively spirit of athletes was amazing to witness. “There were more than enough cold drink and water to keep athletes hydrated and the addition of Jaguar Polokwane to the team is a big contribution,” Calitz said.
