Baroka Football Club will be without their head coach, Kgoloko Thobejane when they take on Chippa United Football Club in their 21st Premier Soccer League (PSL) fixture scheduled for Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
Thobejane, a former educator, was recently suspended by the club on grounds of unconfirmed reports of misbehaviour after their PSL match against Free State Stars Football Club two weeks ago.
Chief Executive Officer Morgan Mammilla could not divulge the reasons behind Thobejane’s suspension pending a disciplinary hearing diarised for 26 February in Lebowakgomo. “This is an internal issue and we are not in a position to comment further about it. We will divulge more information after the hearing,” Mammilla said.
Abel Makhubedu and Matsimele Thoka, Thobejane’s assistant in the National First Division, will be on the bench on the day. “They know the players very well and I think they will do a wonderful job in the absence of the Head Coach,” he said.
Thobejane joined Baroka in 2011 as assistant coach to Sello Chokoe and made a name for himself after helping the team to secure PSL status in 2016. He resigned as a Life Orientation Educator at Mogodumo Primary School in Lebowakgomo in December 2015 to focus on his coaching job.
