The Mountain Bike Day hosted by CRC Mountain Bike Club at the mountain bike track in the city recently was a great success with cyclists competing in categories for boys, girl, adults and veterans.
Chairperson of the club, Flavius Marais, says that 134 cyclists took part in the race, making it the best attended event over the last two years. “It was really a family event that provided much excitement and fun for young and old and it was good to see families spending a day in the open together,” Marais said.
Jana Kotzé, Andreas Jan­sen, Tashane Ehlers and Zino Mengouchi were the winners in the Nipper Girls, Nipper Boys, Sprog Girls and Sprog Boys categories respectively, while Lili Baker and Ruan Jansen van Vuuren were the winners in the Sub-junior Girls and Boys categories.
Jenavieve Truter, Rohan Cronjé, Annie Gutierrez and Richard Lambert, respectively took the honours in the Youth Girls, Youth Boys, and Junior Girls and Boys categories.
The winners in the Elite Men, Sub-Vet Men and Sub-Vet Women were Marno van Zyl, Shaun Constable and Louise Pretorius respectively, while David Baber and Dorothy Rood came first in the Vet Men and Vet Women categories, respectively.
