With only six matches left before the end of the National First Division (NFD) season, Black Leopards Football Club is certain of reaching the play-offs.
Leopards is currently second on 38 points after 24 matches and they will need to win all their matches to reach the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Promotional Play-Offs spot.
Only three clubs are eligible to participate in the play-offs, which is the club that finishes the PSL campaign in the 15th position and teams that finish in position 2 and 3 in the NFD.
A mini three teams league scheduled for May will determine the successor of the relegated club.
Black Leopards Managing Director, Tshifiwa Thidiela said the play-offs spot will give them an opportunity to fight for the PSL status which they lost in 2013. “The play-offs spot is the gate to the PSL and we want to go back there. We are on the right path. We are left with only six matches and the possibility of an achievable 18 points,” Thidiela said.
He also urged their supporters to come in numbers to their match against Stellenbosch Football Cub in Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday. “They beat us 2-1 in the first round of the season last September and we can’t allow them to beat us again. We want to collect maximum points in all the remaining matches and the journey starts with Stellenbosch.
“The presence of our fans during our matches mean a lot to us as the management and the players. Our promise to them is that we will do well in our last remaining matches,” Thidiela said.
