Following a number of trials to select players to represent the province at the national darts championships scheduled for 9 to 13 July in Gauteng, Limpopo Darts Association announced three teams during the last Limpopo trials held at a venue in Ladanna on Saturday.
About 35 players competed and the association’s secretary, Susan van Jaarsveldt said all the trials went well and players have shown commitment throughout. She further said they have strong teams in men, ladies and u.18 boys’ categories and she was confident that they will do their best at the nationals.
Among the participants on Saturday was a deaf player Attie Möller whom, according to Van Jaarsveldt, has been part of the darts family for decades and is still going strong. She said Möller’s commitment to the sport shows that darts is for everyone. The last Capricorn trials are expected to take place on 5 May where Capricorn darts teams will be announced. She pleaded with businesses to assist the association financially for Limpopo players to be able to represent the province on the national stage.
