The Limpopo golf team missed out on the final podium position but managed to claim an overall fourth place in the
A-division of the annual South African Country District Championships held in Potchefstroom last week.
Limpopo Golf Union Operations Manager, Jean Sadie said they were very happy with the fourth position but the team definitely aims at claiming victory in the same championships next year.
“Last year we won the B-division and were promoted to the A-division for this year’s championships. It was a great honour just to play in the A-division as we were up against strong teams from KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Free State and North-West,” Sadie said.
The team consists of eight players of which seven are affiliated with Polokwane Golf Club and one is from Phalaborwa.
The Limpopo team drew 6 each against KwaZulu-Natal and beat Mpumalanga 7,5 – 4,5 during the championships. Limpopo unfortunately had to bend the knee 5,5-6,5 and 2-10 against Free State and North-West respectively.
