The Limpopo First Lady Trust is expected to stage the annual fund-raising golf day at Kameeldoring Country Club in Mokopane tomorrow (Friday).
It was learnt that the event will provide an opportunity for private and public sector organisations, golfers, individuals, philanthropist and other key stakeholders to make contributions through sponsorship, donations and pledges towards the trust.
Participants at the event will reportedly also be exposed to the remarkable work that The First Lady Trust has done over the past few years.
The first lady, Margaret Mathabatha was quoted by a statement to have said the event is the most important social event to create a platform for collaboration between public and private sector institutions, private individuals and donors about poverty alleviation. All proceeds and donations derived through this platform will be used to assist identified beneficiaries in the province, she stated.
“Social responsibility towards disfranchised and less privileged people in our communities is an integral part of civil society. The event will also serve as a platform to deliberate on topical issues that impact on these communities and how public and private sector companies including donors can make a difference with their sponsorship, donations and pledges,” she explained.
Kenny Mathivha, spokesperson for the trust reportedly said the event was an important vehicle for people of the province as it brings together people from different walks of life towards joint social responsibility towards the less advantaged.
The challenge is expected to tee off at 10:00.
