Following the recent two month off-season break the Premier Soccer League (PSL) will return for the 2018/19 season on Saturday. Locally the new season will see newly promoted Black Leopards Football Club take on Polokwane City Football Club at Thohoyandou Stadium on the day.
Baroka Football Club will depart for Durban today (Thursday) for their date with Amazulu Football Club at King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday.
Black Leopards’ spokesperson, Berry Ramunenyiwa referred to their match against Polokwane City as another exciting football chapter.
“It is good to be back in the PSL and we can’t afford to falter this time around. We are ready for the challenge of the new season. We are in the PSL to stamp our authority. This will be a continuation of last season’s performance. We did well in the National First Division and we want to continue with the same performance in the PSL,” Ramunenyiwa said and added that they intend collecting every maximum point on offer. “I don’t think Polokwane City will stop us,” he concluded.
Polokwane City Football Club spokesperson, Vusi Ntimane expressed confidence about their chances: “We prepared well, we brought in a new coach and players and we are ready.”
Morgan Mammilla, Chief Executive Officer of Baroka stated that they were well aware of the threat posed by Amazulu.
“They are just back from a massive victory against Richards Bay in the KwaZulu-Natal Premiers Cup on Sunday,” he reminded and added that his team was ready for the match.
“We need to start the season well. The journey starts with Amazulu from whom we took four points last season. We can do it again. They have never given us problems and I see us winning the match on Saturday,” Mammilla said.
