Hard tackling Polokwane City Football club defender, Nicholas Motloung believes the Man of the Match award he won after their 1-0 feat against Kaizer Chiefs Football club at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening will catapult his soccer career in the right direction.
The 23-year-old defender who was promoted to the senior team in May this year from the club’s reserve side has delivered outstanding performances in the team’s last eight matches of the Premier Soccer League.
He says the accolade will encourage him to continue working hard and realise his full potential. “It was my first award as a professional player. I am grateful to God for giving me this talent and to our coach for giving me the chance to play. This is my first season in the league and I could not have wished for a better start.”
Motloung, who dreams of being part of the national team setup, says he needs to double his efforts in order to achieve the goal. “I left Gauteng in 2016 for Polokwane to further my soccer career. I was at Kaizer Chiefs Development Academy and I was never given a chance. I had to move to Polokwane to further my talent. I have been working very hard throughout the season and in the pre-season. The coach saw the best in me and I am ready to play for the national team,” Motloung said.
