Polokwane City Football Club’s fine form since the beginning of the season continues to pay off. The team now lies in 7th position of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) having beaten their neighbours, Baroka Football Club 3-1 at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday thereby claiming the Limpopo derby bragging rights.
City’s goals were scored by Ghanaian national Mohammed Anas in the first and second stanza of the match while Collins Makgaka scored a consolation goal for Bakgaga.
Club spokesperson, Tincy Tema credited the players for their consistency throughout the season. “The players have been unbelievable. We have a group of hardworking players that are willing to play for the team. They play with their heart on their sleeves in every match. They know the objectives of the club and they just want to better than the previous seasons,” Tema remarked.
He said their aim was not to be in the top 8 or win the league but to win all the matches in the league. “Look, we don’t want to put ourselves under pressure. We just want to do well in the league and finish this season in a good position. We are left with eight matches and we want to do well in each one of those,” Tema stressed.
He also congratulated the Club’s Multichoice Diski Challenge team for reaching the finals of this year’s competition. “They played well throughout the series and we are proud of their efforts. We are saying to them they must do better in the upcoming competition,” Tema said.
