Local wheelchair tennis ace, Kgothatso Montjane recently bowed out of the Japan Open Tennis Championships after going down 3-6 3-6 to Dutch world number 1, Diede de Groot in the quarter-finals at Ariake Colosseum tennis court in Tokyo.
She was also knocked out of the doubles quarterfinals match together with her playing partner, Katharine Kruger from Germany after suffering a 7-5 2-6 1-6 at the hands of Mar­jolein Buis from Netherlands and Dana Mathewson from United States of America.

Open semi-final spot for the fourth time at Melbourne Park in Australia by world number 3 tennis ace Aniek van Koot from the Netherlands who pulled a 7-5 victory to advance to the 3-6 3-6 next round of the competition.
The Japan Open Tennis Championships is the longest-running ATP Tour tournament in Asia, first held in 1972. The ATP 500 tournament is played at the Ariake Colosseum, an expansive tennis centre comprising 48 courts and a stadium with one of the first retractable roofs in tennis. In preparation for the 2020 Olympic Games, the 2018 event was held indoors at the Musushino Forest Sport Plaza. Japan’s Kei Nishikori won the 2012 and 2014 titles.
