Teacher and mentor Maureen Mahlebegoana said the learners stand a good chance of winning trophies.

POLOKWANE – Three foundation phase learners from Pietersburg Comprehensive School will represent their school at the Department of Education’s Reading and Creating Writing competition set for October.

Othabetswe Letsoalo, Mosa Mashola and Mapula Mohlabi won the reading and creative writing categories in the Capricorn district leg of the competition and they will now be vying for top honours with their peers from Vhembe, Mopani, Sekhukhune and Waterberg at the provincial event.

Maureen Mahlebegoana, teacher and mentor for the learners at the school said the learners stand a good chance of winning trophies.

“All the learners that will represent us at the event are good in all the subjects. They are top performing learners at the school and they have prepared well. We started with the preparations as early as February and we are happy to help them to get this far.”

Bonnie Pretorius, teacher at the school mentioned that the learners have been consistent in all the stages of the competition. “They won the Pietersburg Circuit leg where they competed with schools in the city, and they went on to the Capricorn District event doing equally well.”
