Jabez learners get a taste of entrepreneurship

Jabez principal, Dr Elana Erasmus said learners had the incentive of profit and had to donate 10% of their takings to the school.

POLOKWANE – Gr 7 learners of Jabez Christian Academy recently had the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge and skills they have obtained when they took part in an entrepreneurs’ day at the school.

There was no shortage of clients as their teachers and fellow learners were invited to visit the stalls and make their purchases according to grades.

Mpho Mhuxani and Leola Mafu offer popcorn, samoosas, chilli choc cupcakes and kota at the entrepreneurs’s day.

The pink cupcakes, boerewors rolls, chicken burgers and cool drinks offered by Thato Sithole, Zwivhuya Ndau, Aldrin Madziwo and Uchenna Anokwuru were soon sold out and clients also crowded the stall of Mpho Mhuxani and Leola Mafu where popcorn, samoosas, chilli choc cupcakes and kota were on the menu.

Jabez principal, Dr Elana Erasmus explained that as part of their studies, learners were coached on how to plan their enterprises, design their stalls and cost and purchase the ingredients. “They had the incentive of profit and had to donate 10% of their takings to the school,” she added.
